A recognised leader in early childhood education, our Preschool and Long Day care service has been rated as exceeding in all seven areas of the National Quality Standards by the Australian Children's Educational and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
The preschool program is carefully designed to meet the needs of our youngest learners delivering a Modern Montessori based teaching and learning program.
Our Pre - Transition program is unique to Essington, offering a supportive bridging program to full time school in Transition.

Early Years Pathways
Essington offers our Kinder program on Friday morning from the preschool. A parent, grandparent, or guardian accompanies their child in the diverse Preschool learning environment where they participate in structured indoor and outdoor play, including a library story time and music session.
Essington operates our Montessori-inspired Preschool program from Monday to Thursday with two parallel morning sessions and one afternoon session, offering specialist programs in Chinese Language, Science, and Music.
Essington’s Preschool 4 Program runs on Fridays and offers a focused, Montessori-inspired learning experience designed especially for our four-year-old Preschool students. Through purposeful play, exploration and hands-on learning, children build early literacy and numeracy skills while developing the confidence, curiosity and independence that support their next steps in learning.
Little Scholars is a specialised pathway for older Preschool 4 children in the semester before they progress to Pre-Transition on our main campus. Integrated into the Friday Preschool 4 Program, Little Scholars helps children prepare for this important transition through targeted learning experiences and orientation sessions on the main campus, culminating in a special graduation ceremony to celebrate their Preschool journey.
Our Pre-Transition bridging program is unique to The Essington School. Through a play-based approach, children develop early literacy and numeracy skills alongside self-regulation, communication, creativity, independence and social-emotional skills. The program provides a supported pathway into formal schooling, nurturing confidence, curiosity and a love of learning while preparing children for a successful start in Transition.
Our Transition program marks the beginning of a child’s formal school experience at Essington. Through a rich and engaging learning environment, children build strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while developing creativity, collaboration, independence and a sense of discovery.
